Locking system -
The Ohm II Oasis-Night is a belay device manufactured by Edelrid, which is attached upstream to the first carabiner in the Safety chain.
This is a system developed by Edelrid to prevent the belayer from being thrown into the air when the weight difference between them and the climber is too great. Here is the second version of the Ohm, featuring a few improvements to make it easier to use.
It therefore helps to compensate for the difference in weight between the lighter Belayer and the heavier Climber. It Ohm II attaches to the first Quickdraw, allowing the climber to slow down gradually in the event of a fall, independently of the belay device. The risk of collision is therefore reduced.

- The Belayer needs to make far less force in the event of a claim
- Descent with a heavier climber is much easier to control
- Fits onto the first bolt in the Safety chain
- In the event of a fall at the first peak, the device reduces the risk of a potential fall on Deck
- No restriction on movement for the lead climber (no friction when the Belayer gives slack)
- Increases the Belayer's weight by 25 kg
- Compatible with carabiners that are certified to EN 12275 and EN362
Minimum capital requirement for the insurer: 40 kg
Compatible string diameters: 8.9–11 mm
Composition :
- Body: Aluminium, Steel
- Strap: polyamide, low-density polyester (LDPE)
