Buying a pair of touring skis: our advice
So, you've made up your mind and are going to invest in a pair of touring skis. Before rushing into it, take the time to assess which pair would suit you best. This will depend on your touring style and your expectations: performance uphill? downhill? Versatility? Here are a few tips to help you choose wisely.
What brand? What model of touring skis?
If you're the type who hates the climb and wants to make the most of the descent, we recommend a freeride touring model: these are relatively wide skis with good float in powder (often equipped with a rocker) that will allow you to have fun on the downhill. If you're a fan of the climb and vertical drop, then you'll prefer ultra-light skis for maximum performance.
