Touring ski boots - Men - F1 2021- Scarpa
A good fit is paramount when choosing ski touring boots – even more so than normal downhill boots - as your feet will be subject to a wider range of angles, movements and friction as you skin uphill, traverse, and negotiate tricky terrain on the way down.
For this reason, ski touring boots are also equipped with a walk mode to allow for a larger range of motion when walking or skinning, letting the foot flex and avoiding that clunky ski boot walk ! They’re also made to be a bit smaller and lighter than classic downhill boots for maximum ease while ascending.
Just like alpine ski boots, touring boots each have their own flex. See our downhill ski boots section for more information on which flex would suit you. In general, flexes of touring boots are less than those of downhill boots.
However, touring skiers have the same dilemna with their AT boots as they do with their touring skis : weight vs. performance. A stiffer flex usually means a heavier boot, therefore a more difficult ascent – but it will also offer a more precise, performance driven ski down. A soft, light boot will make for an easy climb but you will have less control while skiing.
The choice is yours, but if you have any queries, please contact our customer service team, who will use their extensive knowledge to advise you.
