| Trapping air and body heat in its high-filling down balls, this lightweight, compressible fabric offers exceptional warmth in cold weather. Contrary to popular belief, down is not the same as feathers. This type of insulation uses goose or duck down, the first soft feathers found under a bird's feathers. The fill power index of down gives two important indications: the warmth/weight ratio and the degree of compressibility. These two properties are crucial for heat retention and comfort. Down is more effective in dry weather and loses its performance in wet conditions. Machine drying revives the natural down. |
