No subject to promotional offersThe Burton Photon Step On® are a brand new generation in women's all-mountain snowboard boots. Drawing inspiration from old step-in type bindings, the Burton brand is once again at the forefront of snowboard progress with this new generation of Step-On® boots and bindings. Here available in a "wide" version that is wider than the classic model, to offer this technology to all foot shapes.
As the name suggests the Photon Step On® is a variation of the Photon Boa®, the all-mountain freeride boots with specs and high-quality performance that everybody desires. Comfort, security, board control and intuition - a solid basis from which Burton could develop the reliable Photon Step On ® design.
The main difference between strap-in and Step On® bindings is that it is the boot itself that determines which binding/boot pack to get and no longer the binding. The Photon Step On ®, with its stiff flex (7/10), additional tongue on the kick, andBoa® fit system, provides the stiffness and responsiveness of the Genesis EST® plus the Photon Boa®, or perhaps even more!
With the Step On® system, you can put your bindings on while standing by simply stepping into the connection points on the sides of the feet and behind the hi-back. No need to sit in the cold, wet, snow to put on your shoes - and no one will be complaining about having to wait for you at the ski lifts!
The major benefit of this new system is the responsiveness in the power transfer from boots to board. Because of the connection points, particularly the hi-back, the boots are literally stuck down from the hi-back to the baseplate so shifts from edge to edge have never been so fast.

Cushioning:
B3 Gel: cushion for repeated impact which is unaffected by cold weather.
Isothermal Sleeping Bag technology:light, thin layer which insulates your foot.
Lacing:
Dual-zone BOA® Coiler™ closure system: these Burton New England Rope laces are indestructible and guaranteed for life. The Coiler reel is a quick and effective system to adjust laces easily. Natural fibre ropes have a more natural flex and feel for greater comfort.
Lacing technology: the dial-it-in system increases heel hold across three distinct lacing zones with a single dial. Secure and consistent fit across the whole boot.
Comfort :
Total Comfort Construction: Best possible feel from the very first use. The Total Comfort design leaves out the process of moulding the foot to the liner, favouring instead a liner that adapts to your body directly.
Snowproof internal gusset: the lower zone of the boot is completely sealed off from the snow, keeping feet warm and dry all day.
Outsole :
Step On® EST® outsole: outsole developed to adapt better to the EST bindings so that connection and information transfer is even quicker.
Shrinkage™ technology: reduces the overall outer-sole by one size. A size 10 will wear a size 10 but with a size 9 outer-sole profile. A shorter, lighter weight.
Sizing tip: We recommend that you order a size up from your usual size.
When you try the Burton Photon Step On®, you are rather confused, then surprised, and then you're won over. Despite all the scepticism that people, including us, who have known the step-in style may have had, we admit that on paper, the Photon Step On® was not a winner straight away! But, as they say, only fools don't change their minds... In terms of comfort and support, no worries, it's just like the Photon Boa®. Slight difference with the so-called "normal" model, the sole is less cut for walking but it is made to fit perfectly with the base of the Step-On® binding.
The big surprise comes from the reactivity and the linkage of toe and heel supports. Changing from edge to edge is ultra-fast. We must admit that when there is a bit of snow build-up by the bindings, you'll have to scrape it out to be able to fix your boots easily.
What surprised us the most was the small degree of freedom of movement that straps offer. Let us expand. When you want to pull an ollie, the base of the boots move a little bit during this pop movement. With the Step-On®boots and bindings lugs, the bootsare literally pressed into the binding, which changes the way you ride a little bit.
The other positive point comes from the robust landing support, which combined with good reactions, allows you to get off the nose and move quickly after landing a little too far forward. We couldn't test the system on big impacts but the technology seems to be developed well enough to support a slightly firmer ride style
So if you are curious and ready to try the experience, we can only recommend the Photon Step On ® to discover new depths.
