Description

The MX98 is a model of all-mountain skis from the Austrian brand Kästle.

The MX98 is a ski that bridges the gap between piste and freeride, and should appeal to excellent skiers looking for an all-rounder with a strong character. With its 98mm runner and rocker tip, there's no need to worry about venturing into powdery combos, the ski will float. But what is surprising is the tendency of the ski to carve on the piste despite its relatively wide sidelines. The edge grip is sharp thanks to a top-of-the-range construction and finishes inspired by racing skis.

The sandwich construction - straight edges, inspired by racing techniques, integrates a wooden core of two species (poplar / beech) combined with four plates of reinforcement, two in titanium and two others in fibreglass. This gives the ski all of its power, character and incredible gliding feeling. On the MX98the Austrian brand also offers an iconic tip, lightened but with improved shock absorption thanks to the Hollowtech 3.0the result is a comfortable, unflappable ski!

The turn radius of the is rather long, which makes it a ski that loves speed, and almost impossible to fault it when you're doing big turns in excess of the speed limit on your favourite slopes.

Simply put, the is a reference all-mountain ski for experienced and expert skiers who want a pair that can go from carving on the piste to fresh snow in freeride.

Construction:
- SANDWICH: Sandwich construction with full-length vertical sidewalls, for maximum precision and performance.

Core structure:
- WOODCORE: Each Kästle ski is made with the finest wood core, manufactured with precision to one tenth of a millimetre. This allows the brand to control the weight, responsiveness and cushioning characteristics of the ski, resulting in a high-quality, durable product. The wood type, or combination of different woods, is individually catered to each model line, based on the ski‘s intended use.

Technologies:
- Hollowtech 3.0 Carbon: The brand's patented key technology is unique to ski manufacturing. Removing unneeded layers at the front of the ski makes it more stable, edge-grip is more powerful and the overall weight is reduced. The size of eachHollowtechis adapted to individual model lines. The new version 3.0 offers an even lighter tip with carbon and less material for an even better effect.

- Elliptical Radius: The shape of the Elliptical Radius determines how quickly and aggressively the ski turns.

- Early Rise: Rise technology allows for tip optimisation for better float control depending on the terrain. The Early rise spatula improves buoyancy and allows easy handling for piste and all-mountain conditions.

- Fast Grip Shovel: Short tip in which the contact point is located far forward. This ensures a faster response at the beginning of the turn.

- Fast Grip Tail: Tail with a contact point near the end of the ski. This results in a more aggressive and precise performance at the end of the turn.

Team review
