Description

The Hovercraft Split from Jones is a splitboard for advanced men, ideal for backcountry rides.

True to the original model, the Hovercraft Split has the famous short and efficient shape which offers as much flotation as a longer board. However, its shorter size gives it a valuable advantage when going down a narrow path or between trees: it is very manoeuvrable and can easily squeeze through the fir trees. The Hovercraft Split is still a great board, designed for freeriding and offering a huge lift in the powder.

When it comes to donning the skins with the Quick Tension Tail Clip system and getting into the climbing phase, the Inside & Outside Traction Tech 2.0 serrated edges provide grip on the inside edge despite their small size. And once again, the shortened board size is favourable for kick turns.

Once you've reached the top, clip on your bindings and off you go to swallow the powder and everything else in your path. For added strength, the Hovercraft Split is reinforced with stainless steel inserts on the nose and tail. In addition, the Topsheet is made of varnished wood composite, which ensures greater absorption of vibrations and shocks. The rocker allows you to get out of the way and reduces the chance of crashing the nose of the board on landings or changes in snow conditions so that you don't get blown off the front.

This year, Hovercraft Split has decided to go green as no ink is used on its topsheet, all logos are directly laser engraved into the wood.

The Hovercraft Split is an affordable splitboard that offers excellent performance and fun on the way up and down.

The board is snow as is, with a Karakoram Ultra Clip included.

Other features

- Camber:
Directional Rocker: classic camber with rocker for greater float and grip in all snow conditions. Longer and more pronounced rocker on the front of the board to increase lift with a camber under the feet for grip and responsiveness. The shorter tail rocker not only provides the same power and stability than other boards, but prevents catch when entering turns and landing switch.

- Shape:
Directional: classic shape with the nose slightly longer than the tail for lift off-piste.
Directional Flex pattern
Blunt Nose: Curved nose to improve the glide and resistance the grip of the snow and therefore reduces the "ploughing" effect of the nose.
Inside & Outside Traction Tech 2.0: The serrated edges offer multiple contact points along the board. This technology counteracts the negative effect of the rocker which reduces the edge/snow contact length of your board. The edges are corrugated, including those to the side of the centre of the board.
Progressive Sidecut: At each end of the edges, the curve radius is increased at the contact points. This larger radius ensures a smoother ride when entering and exiting turns.

- Flex - 7/10 - Stiff flex.

- Core:
FSC™ Classic Core: Slovenian poplar wood core for fun pop and flex durability..
FSC™ Engineered Wood Veneer: a very thin composite veneer that provides good flex distribution and absorbs vibration even on uneven snow conditions.

- Topsheet
Biax Fiberglass: double layer of fibreglass snow in both directions for a fun and forgiving board.

Sole
Sintered 8000 base: durable sole with carbon for speed and good wax absorption.
-Flip-Flop base: manufacturing process reducing waste related to the sole. Two colours available, delivered randomly.

Technologies:
Karakoram Clip: Jones splitboards have Karakoram clips as well as hooks on the nose and tail.  The tension-adjustable K-bindings improve the torsional rigidity of the board
Super Sap Bio Resin: all Jones boards are now on built with bio-based, renewable epoxy instead of petroleum based epoxy. The raw materials used to make Super Sap Bio-Resin are co-products or waste products of other plant-based industrial processes. Producing Super Sap requires 33% less greenhouse gas emissions than traditional epoxy.
Quick Tension Tail: The Quick Tension system is a lightweight solution unique to boards by Jones from 2016 onwards (except the Discovery). Jones splitboards have a notch in the tail of each board that allows the Quick Tension clip to pass through the notch and hold the skin. For 2018, the Quick Tension clip has been completely redesigned and now features a rubber tail strap and a compact metal clip.
Oversized Recycled Edges: edges made of recycled steel.
Recycled Rounded ABS: ABS plastic in Jones boards is made from recycled plastic.
Wend Natural Wax: ready to use as soon as they leave the factory, Jones snowboards are already coated with Wend Natural Wax.
Stainless Steel Reinforcement: Stainless steel plates are integrated into the nose and tail to improve the strength of the board's tips.
Forever Flex: a new process that helps maintain the same level of flex throughout the life of the board
Factory tuned: ready to go as soon as they leave the store. Jones boards can hit the slopes straight away!
Karakoram Ultra Clips 1.0: Jones splitboards have Karakoram clips as well as hooks on the nose and tail. The tension-adjustable K-bindings improve the torsional rigidity of the board. Ultra clips are the strongest and thinnest in the world

Team review
