The Hovercraft 2022 from Jones is a women's Freeride snowboard for advanced to expert level.
For several years now, the Hovercraft has been a reference in the world of freeride snowboarding. What sets it apart is the extreme lift it offers in powder snow. Its name Hovercraft is proof of this, as it glides on the surface of the powder.
The reason it is so comfortable in the snow is due to its Directional Rocker profile, with a very pronounced front rocker and a nose that is wider than the tail, which allows the nose to glide over the fresh snow. While the lower rocker in the back, the slight swallow-tail and the shift of your centre of gravity backwards push the tail into the snow allowing for unparalleled agility. In addition, the 3D Base Contour 3.0 technology curves the tips upwards, which further increases the feeling of flying over the snow. Finally, its width at the waist is substantial with no less than 260 mm.
But powder isn't the only area where the Hovercraft excels. Featuring the famous Traction Tech 3.0 corrugated edges, the board has multiple contact points for excellent grip on packed snow on the slopes.
Add to this a layer ofBiax Fiberglass that offers an excellent redistribution of energy when tensioned, a rigid flex of 7/10 and the Progressive Sidecut turn radius of 9,3 m (for the 156 cm model), you get a Hovercraft that is capable of gliding through turn after turn !
The Hovercraft is a snowboard that will allow riders to enjoy freeriding with a board that is versatile enough to be ridden every day on the slopes, when conditions are not right.
This is Jones's most eco-friendly board (see technical specifications).
Please note that the Hovercraft snowboard is made to be 6-8 cm shorter than your usual board.

Flex : 7/10 - Stiff
Side cuts: 305/260/293 for the 156 cm model
Turn radius: 9.30 m for the 156 cm model
Camber:
Directional Rocker : Classic camber with rocker for greater float and grip in all snow conditions. Longer and more pronounced rocker on the front of the board to increase lift with a camber under the feet for grip and responsiveness. The shorter tail rocker not only provides the same power and stability than other boards, but prevents catch when turning.
Shape:
Directional : The nose is longer and wider than the tail and the inserts have been set back on the back of the board. These features provide more lift in powder.
3D Contour Base 3.0: convex base. The edges are raised at the ends by 7mm from the centre of the board.
Blunt Nose: The blunt nose provides the lift benefits of a longer nose without the rounded shape and extra weight.
Traction Tech 1.0 : Strategically placed corrugated edges to counteract the negative effect of the rocker and increase the edge grip on the snow.
Progressive Sidecut : At each end of the edges, the curve radius is increased at the contact points. This larger radius ensures a smoother ride when entering and exiting turns.
Technology :
- Forever Flex: A manufacturing process (early lapping system) that stabilises the flex and rocker profile of a board for its entire life span.
- Classic Core : Premium poplar wood core ensures a good pop and a constant and durable flex.
- Biax Fibreglass: fiberglass layer applied in multiple directions for a board that is precise and responsive on any terrain and any snow.
- Engineered wood Veneer: New wood composite topsheet made from sustainable wood. It softens the ride and absorbs the vibration of the board
- Laser Engraved Graphics: No ink is used on the topsheet, all logos and inscriptions are laser engraved to be more environmentally friendly. The Hovercraft range is the only one to use this innovation.
- Sintered 8000 base : Base made from UHMW-PE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) and carbon. Very easy to repair and offers ultimate gliding properties.
- Recycled ABS: - The ABS plastics in Jones boards are made from recycled plastic.
- Wend Natural Wax: Waxed with natural Wend wax, Jones boards are ready to use straight from the factory.
- Bio Resin: all Jones boards are now built with bio-based, renewable epoxy instead of petroleum based epoxy.
