60 days to change your mindThe Hovercraft from Jones is a men's freeride snowboard for skilled boarders.
This board is known and recognised in the freeride snowboarding world as one of the first-choice boards. What sets it apart from the competition is the supreme float that it offers on powder snow.
But the Hovercraft isn't just made for powder! With wavy Traction Tech 1.0 edges, the board has multiple contact points for excellent grip on packed snow runs. Add to that the classic camber underfoot, the rigid flex of 7/10 and the Progressive Sidecut curve radius of 9.3m (156 cm), and you get a Hovercraft to take turn after turn 'til you drop!
The Hovercraft is a snowboard allowing riders to test the waters of freeride practice with a board that's versatile enough to be ridden every day on the slopes, when the conditions aren't tip top.
Please note: Due to the shape, you should choose a Hovercraft board that's 6 to 8cm shorter than your usual board.
Camber - Directional Rocker: classic camber with rocker for greater float and grip in all snow conditions. The longer rockered tip improves float, while the camber ensures edge hold and response. The shorter tail rocker not only provides the same power and stability as other boards, but prevents catch when entering turns and landing switch.
Shape:
- Directional: classic shape with the nose slightly longer than the tail for float on unpacked snow.
- Directional Flex pattern
- V-core
- Blunt Nose: a blunt nose so you can glide rather than snow ploughing your way around the slopes.
- Traction Tech 1.0: edge grip with multiple contact points along the length of the board. This technology offsets the edge drift of the rocker, so that you can firmly lock into any moves.
- Progressive Sidecut: The radius at the ends of the sidecut is slightly increased as the edge reaches the contact points. This larger radius ensures a smoother ride when entering and exiting turns.
Flex - 7/10 - Rigid flex.
Core:
- FSC™ Engineered Veneer: new 100% FSC™ certified wood varnish. This gives you a smoother ride and absorbs the noise of the deck.
- FSC™ Classic Core: Slovenian poplar wood core for a fun pop and durable flex.
Topsheet - Biax Fibreglass: double layer of fibreglass applied in both directions for a fun and forgiving board.
Base:
- Sintered 7000 base: durable base with added carbon for speed and good wax absorption.
- Flip Flop Base: to minimise waste during the manufacturing process. Comes in two different base colours, according to stocks.
Technology:
- Oversized Recycled Edges: recycled steel edges.
- Recycled Black ABS: as with all Jones boards, only recycled ABS plastic is used.
- Wend Natural Wax: pre-waxed with Wend natural wax so the snowboard is immediately ready to shred!
- Super Sap Bio Resin : all Jones boards are now built with renewable bio-based epoxy instead of petroleum-based epoxy. The raw materials used to manufacture Super Sap Bio-Resin are co-products or waste from plant-based industrial processes. Producing Super Sap requires 33% less greenhouse gas emissions than traditional epoxy.
Not sure about the shape? Don't worry: it's the real bonus of this deck. Strong and stable in powder, the Hovercraft is also easy to handle on the slopes and on difficult snow.
With a very freeride shape, it's hard to believe that this board can go anywhere, but it's very versatile: a disconcerting lift and ease in the powder, not to mention grip on the slopes and on choppy snow! With the Hovercraft, it is easy to go for a chain of impressive runs!
