Ascent 40 Avabag Blue

A pioneer in terms of mountain safety, Ortovox is offering the Ascent 40 Avabag, an airbag backpack designed to equip you against the risks of avalanche.

The Avabag Ascent 40 is the largest bag of the range. Ultra-light but very complete in terms of safety, it is perfect for multi-day hikes or long committed crossings day-long.

Please note, the AVABAG system and the trigger cartridge system are not included with this bag.

In terms of capacity, the Ascent 40 has 40 litres de volume of usable volume and three interior pockets that provide you with plenty of storage space for multi-day trips: safety equipment, hydration system, change of clothes, food etc. With its numerous attachment options, you can add a rope, your ice axe, skis and poles, but also easily attach a mattress or sleeping bag.

To limit its total weight (including the airbag system and cartridge) Ortovox has used ultra-light, yet resistant materials: 100D Robic Ripstop Nylon and 420D Oxford HD Nylon.

The Ascent Avabag isn't just light, it's also very comfortable: its padded 3D back panel distributes the load evenly between the waist strap and the lightly padded shoulder straps. Other features include a circular zip that guarantees quick access the main compartment, a diagonal ski binding system, as well a separated inner for the ice safety equipment, ideal for the most demanding ski touring.

Airbag system: AVABAG

AVABAG Airbag is the lightest airbag system in the world! Ortovox has managed to limit its weight to just 640 g thanks to an innovative construction technology in which the fabric is first processed without seams and without additional sealing, and thanks to an extremely minimalist inflation unit.

With a low weight and a required volume of only 1.8 litres, the AVABAG is the lightest and smallest airbag system in the world. Another special feature of the AVABAG system is the possibility to practice releasing the trigger without a cartridge in place, so you can as many times as you like to prepare for worst case scenarios.

The avabag's handle is designed to be perfectly ergonomic and to optimize activation when necessary. Non-slip, the handle also offers a 360° shape that allows easy triggering with all types of gloves.
Adjustable in length, the system is designed to ensure optimum individual fit.
