About Petzl

The Petzl story began in 1975, when Ferninand Petzl, a caving enthusiast, decided to sell lamps to climb, descend, secure and move in the dark without having to carry a torch in hand. He innovated in his small workshop near Grenoble, Isère, by creating a lamp concept that attaches to the head, leaving hands free for sport: the head torch was born. Since then, Petzl has continued to innovate every day, offering different models of head torches, always inspired by the needs of outdoor athletes.
