The filling power of goose down is an indicator of two important characteristics: the heat/weight ratio and compressibility, two essential elements that provide warmth and comfort. The filling power is measured by placing a constant weight of goose down in a graduated cylinder, and measuring the volume taken up by the down in cubic centimetres.
