HYBRID CONCEPT
The HYBRID concept allows the new Petzl compact headlamps to run off both the CORE rechargeable battery and 3 AAA/LR03 batteries, without an adapter. A practical solution that allows the user to take advantage of these energy sources depending on use.
More information
Petzl headlamps, like all electronic equipment, must indicate their level of protection. The protection level is given by the IP XX index. XX are 2 independent digits that indicate protection against solids and protection against liquids respectively. Petzl headlamps also comply with the requirements of Directive 89/336/EEC. This means that they cannot cause any electromagnetic interference with any other equipment that meets this standard. This is called Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).
Petzl headlamps are illuminated by LEDs. Petzl chose LEDs for its appliances because they are more efficient than incandescent bulbs because they:
- Do not use a filament, which results in a more
consistent light
- Consume less energy guaranteeing a longer life
- Are available in various shapes and colours
Petzl headlamps with LED illumination use a lens to concentrate the light beam in the same direction: forward and to optimize homogeneity. Without such a lens, a power LED emits an 180° radiation. The beam is thus focused and can illuminate further. But for local and wider lighting, Petzl headlamps equipped with a wide angle shutter will diffuse the radiation more widely. The 5mm diameter LEDs have an optical system (lens and reflector), giving them a fixed angle of radiation.
