More than two decades ago, Chrome made its first bag using a Juki sewing machine, a few metres of industrial-grade nylon, military-grade truck tarpaulin, and a commitment to creating durable, practical gear that works on and off the bike.
There was no money to make a buckle strong enough to support the weight of a loaded messenger bag, so Chrome salvaged seatbelt buckles from cars in scrapyards. An icon was born. The original messenger bag with its seatbelt buckle quickly became a favourite among professional messengers worldwide. Most importantly, a way of doing things was defined. We call it Freedom through limitations.
